Many must have received e-mail on these spectacular  icebergs
apparently these awesome icebergs are not from Lake Michigan
or else Lake Michigan would instantly become a tourist spot over-nighty ;p

according to the research  these amazing  icebergs are from Antartica

haven’t seen iceberg yet
guess one has to either hop to the North or South Pole to see them…

meanwhile I better enjoy what God has lavishingly pour down on my “backyard’  😛

there… went snowshoeing with friends last week

first time seeing icicle on branches

the weather was mighty gorgeous

only one word came to mind — EXTRAVAGANT!

p.s.  the same place from 3 weeks ago

Butterfly kisses…

This is the Angel of Freedom, one of the 3 angel figurines I collected which speaks volume to me.

The other two are Angel of Thank You and  Angel of Courage

They are products from Willow Tree production.

This Angel of Freedom – setting a butterfly free – reminds me of

John 8:38 where Jesus declares…

“… if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

I used to not fancy anything  butterflies except grasshoppers & dragonflies,

but recently butterfly-related stuff seem to fly my way ;p

This piece of artwork was given to me by a college art student.

At first I was thinking what a plain looking butterfly that was;

Isn’t butterfly supposed to be exquisitely colorful and with splendor,

that is why they are nicknamed ‘Flying Flowers’

However, after reexamining the details of this art-piece,

I started to appreciate this intricate artwork and heartfelt gift.

Thank you Michael for letting me see beauty in your color-less butterfly 🙂

The other day a friend and I were shopping and she wanted to buy a box of thank-you cards.

We came across a very nice set with gorgeous butterflies imprint  but my friend was hesitant to buy it ‘cos she said in her culture butterflies is not a good thing for it denotes short life span.

It’s true that in general, butterflies do not live long.

I told her that in christian setting butterfly is a good thing for it connotes freedom; It gives the images of metamorphosis which symbolizes celebration, hope, new life and transformation.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation:
The old has gone, the new is here!

Below are gorgeous  butterflies photos taken by my friend Felex while visiting Malaysia.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—
His good, pleasing and perfect will.

This butterfly entry also reminds me of the following account which my eldest brother conveyed to us:

On the 3rd day after my mom’s burial,  my brother witnessed a butterfly flying into our living room and landed for quite a lengthy time.

He phoned and excitedly exclaimed that he had never seen such stunning butterfly.

It’s too bad that at that time he didn’t have a camera to capture the splendid.

He said it could be my mom’s spirit dropping by to say hello!

People do use butterflies  images  for various occasions.
One such occasion would be in memory of loved ones.

For those interested in doing a memorial butterfly project, here is a “good project” in memory of the children of Holocust.

The mandate of this project is to remember the 1,500,000 innocent children who were murdered as a result of the Holocaust.

Their goal is to collect 1.5 million handmade butterflies from around the world  to be unveiled in Spring 2013 in the Huston museum.
So let’s spread the wings of this  project around!

Wow, another amazing creation from God: the  alphabetical and numerical imprints on butterfly wings.

What’s so deep that theologians cannot touch the bottom
yet so shallow that babes cannot drown… ^ ^ — Rev. Alan Redpath–

This sword is given to me by one of my friends’ son.

Micah crafted this sword for me and Micah got talent!

He is only twelve and he is very gifted in making miniature knives and swords.

I was touched to see the imprint he did on the sword.

He is definitely spiritual in tune with God.

He told me he usually polishes craft knives for friends for their camping trip.

I was very impressed with Micah’s giving spirit and his unique hobby.

I bless Micah that God will use his craftsmanship to honor God.

I told Micah about Bazzalel and Oholiab, the two amazing gifted craftsmen whom God chosen especially to work in the tabernacle (Exodus 35:30-36).

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

Yup, the riddle above on theologian and baby is the Bible!

Calm before the storm…

This is the twilight I enjoyed when I got off work yesterday.

This is the daybreak I witnessed on the way to work this morning.

The strong bright cloud on the horizon was so dramatic and captivating that I just had to stop and capture the image.

arriving at work, suddenly there was this pitter-pattering sound tapping so loudly on my office window.

I glanced out and it was raining hailstones.

I learned that the dramatic bright cloud this morning was known as hail shaft which often show a sign that a hailstorm is on its way… as the saying goes… calm before the storm!

The beautiful twilight from yesterday at the same place looks like this now…

After more than half an hour, the hailing finally come to a halt.
They slowly turned into rain and hailstones on the grounded slowly melting away.

Sometimes hailstones look like tiny crystal;

Other times they sure look like sago.

Biblical hailstones are godly traumatic and here’s a few examples…

One of the 10 plagues that God punishes Pharaoh
— the Plague of Hail (Exodus 9:13-19)

Out of the brightness of His presence clouds advanced,
with hailstones and bolts of lightning. (Psalm 18:12)

He destroyed their vines with hail
and their sycamore-figs with sleet. (Psalm 78:47)

He hurls down his hail like pebbles;
who can withstand His icy blast? (Psalm 147:17)

The LORD will cause people to hear His majestic voice
and will make them see His arm coming down
with raging anger and consuming fire,
with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail. (Isaiah 30:30)

From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men.
And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail,
because the plague was so terrible. (Revelation 16:21)

Unlike rain or hailstones pitty-pattering on rooftop,
snow-falling is hush and quiet.

Here’s the tranquil snowing scene past midnight from a few weeks ago ;p

Early morn’ on this freezing cold day
One word came
and seemed to stay… paradise

Paradise?  What??
On this icy cold weather???

Isn’t paradise a place with pristine beaches,
palm trees,
romantic get-away and the like?

But staring out the window pane this early morn’,
I see snow falling,
bountiful without refrain

The snow has covered the tree tops,
the veranda and the piece of land outside.

Fluffy snow… likes a soft blanket,
White snow… becomes winter playland.

oh, my heart is stirred by this pearly white scene,
and I sense an invitation — a holy invitation —
by the Creator of the snow.
My sins red as scarlet
can be washed by Him
so that I can be whiter than the snow
pure… clean… anew

Turning my eyes from the outside wall to the inner wall
The fireplace called for my attention
I gazed… wood igniting with much aglow
I listen… wood crackling with soothing sound
I feel… wood burning generating much heat
I sense… another holy invitation by the Refiner’s fire
to come and be embraced in His warmness

Hush… on this icy cold morn’ sitting by the fireplace
I knew I’m dwelling in paradise!

*the above was written a couple of years ago at Rivendell

In Luke 23, Jesus answered the criminal,
“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Wherever our choice of paradise
may our hearts not grow cold from loving God
like this epidemic known as “spiritual cold wave”

Jesus states in Matthew 24
12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Only God’s purifying brilliant light can melt away the coldness of our hearts!

This hand…

Normally I don’t write or share
about my family members in the blog
but since Valentine Day is ’round the corner
thought I’ll pay a salute to this special person in my family
hehe, I hope I won’t cause siblings rivalry after this post 🙂

this hand…
due to family tight budget
without hesitation dipped into the toilet bowl
to pick up the 20 cents (my pocket money for the day)
which I accidentally dropped into the toilet bowl
and was too disgusted to pick it up myself
i was shocked when i saw this hand
went into the toilet bowl
right before my eyes
to salvage the coin

this hand…
presented me with the first expensive educational toy
— the wooden smooth colorful puzzle cubic block

this hand…
learned sewing & tailoring and sewn some new clothes for me
for chinese new year celebration years ago

this hand…
brought me to attend the funfair/carnival in our local town
enjoying the crowds
riding on various roller coaster rides
eating savory pork jerky & melty cotton candy

this hand…
never fails to send warmest regards through snail mails
on special ocassions annually

this hand…
when we are in need never fails to be generous

this hand…
is a hand of love
both tough and tender love

this hand…
must be a praying hand as well

this hand…
is the hand of my eldest sister

i’m sure all my siblings agree that this sister is second to none

all snapshots taken during eldest sis & second sis visit a couple of years ago

I think my second sis was the happiest
‘cos her desire to enjoy Autumn season finally come true
her next desire is to plunge into winter wonderland

read her gratitude to God in the comment here

here’s a heart-warming song to share with all
this mv was made by me once upon a time
when i was so crazy about this korean drama called ‘Full House’

More beautiful than a flower

 @ Karen Harvey CoX

“Angel in heaven rejoices on the day you accept Him by faith
this is the greatest gift of all
May He who loves you continue showing His love for you
through His word, the Bible

This book is the treasure of my life
and I hope it will also be the treasure of your life
May your walk with Him be as beautiful as the flowers
that blooms during springtime”

The above was written on the Bible by my cousin AL
once upon a time to her husband then boyfriend
What a precious gift & poetic love note

Flower often reminds me of God, our Heavenly Father’s love and care for all… Matthew 6

Says it with flowers…

Last week I went to a potluck dinner
I knew every time at this gathering
there would be tons of food to feast
so I decided to bring flowers to share and tofeast the souls
one person wrote the next day, “The roses are blooming; they make my powder room beautifully inviting!”
another wrote, “We thank God for flowers, though they will be here only for a short while, their presence brighten lives.”

“The grass withers and the flowers fall

but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8

Finding beauty everywhere…

I was walking passed a store one day and there was a sidewalk sale
I decided to “window shopping” as I’m not that of a shopaholic ;p
but then I stumbled upon this beautiful plaque which I couldn’t resist not to buy
what a great reminded to find beauty everywhere

The other day a friend from the States and I were talking about
the magnificient place that we live in and this is what she shared…
“God’s creation is magnificent wherever because He is the Creator
Yeah, the area I live is beautiful beyond description
but I’ve been telling the Lord that I will not say
one is better than the other from now on
because He being the Creator used the same high standards
when He created the world
so I live in a place where it has a different beauty
in the words of one of my friends who came to visit
‘where I live is like one big park’
And it’s true, I wish I will not take it for granted….ever….”

What she mentioned  is a great food-for-thought
and reminds me of this plaque
to find beauty everywhere

Today I went strolling at a second hand store
and came across this lovely book
since this is the year of Rabbit
I decided to pick it up as a keepsake
plus the pictures are all beautifully illustrated and serenely springy

Methinks rabbit is finding beauty everywhere all day long ^ ^

Beauty might be in the eyes of the beholder
and beauty oftentimes is free
go find beauty everywhere
and come share it with me

Btw the two things I bought didn’t cost me arm and leg
the plaque was $0.99 & the rabbit book… $0.25

‘God has made everything beautiful in its time’ ~ Ecclesiaste 3:11a ~
