Oftentimes, prayer seems like an expression of pains and sorrows to God.
When I face pains or are in need, I would be drawn to the Lord’s Prayer to help me focus.
The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) is a holistic prayer that tells us about who God is and his promises and our need to depend on Him.
There are many ways to teach children this model of prayer. Here is one fun and colorful tool that can enhance the children’s conversation with God.
Sky blue: Our Father who art in heaven,
Pearly white: Hallowed (holy) is Your name,
Purple: Your kingdom come, Your will be done
Green: On earth as it is in heaven.
Yellow: Give us this day our daily bread.
Red: Forgive us our debts (sins), as we also have forgiven our debtors (those who sinned against us).
Orange: And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.
I need 300 sets of these prayer key chains for a mission project.
Thanks to these children for helping me assembled them together with much enthusiasm.
Teach me to pray —
Through gathering the suggested colorful beads for the Lord’s Prayer, the children learn the valuable prayer in communicating with our Father who art in Heaven.
Brilliant, Janice!
I wonder why orange is about the evil one. It reminds me of halloween!!! And my pumpkin down jacket!!
Yay why orange? Should be black right? But have you heard of orange is the new black ;p
Hmm.. orange is the new black? Why? I love the photos and the project with your students … they are so blessed to have a teacher who is so creative. I wish I was a child again – so I can attend your class!
Ahh, the color is subject to interpretation ;p Normally my creative side would let children pick the color that have meaning to them, but this time it’s a large scale project so have to limit the choice of color ;p
Detata said orange belongs to her Denver Broncos… there’s gonna be orangey color glowing at the Superbowl this Sunday!
Phil & Joyce are asking their “Captain Bubble” which team gonna win the game, Orange (the Broncos) or Green (the Seahawks)
