Merry and Bright

Medellin is famous for its Festival of Lights display during the Christmas holidays.

We had a merry night out enjoying the bright lights that illuminated the city streets and parks.

The colourful lights that adorned the whole city of Medellin reminded me of that One Holy Night —

the glorious beams from the heavenly hosts that shone on the shepherds in the field (Luke 2)
and the special bright star of Bethlehem that the wise men followed (Matthew 2)

— they all point towards the Great Light — Jesus — who is the Light of the world.

Jesus replies: “I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Our team had a chance to participate in one of the “I’m Precious to Jesus” campaigns held in South Africa.

The purpose of the campaign is to empower children and to let the community know that they are Precious to Jesus.

The “I’m Precious to Jesus Campaign” works very closely with the local Children’s Church committee.

When a campaign is held, they would invite four or five children’s churches to join the rally.

On that particular day, the children’s church leaders would gather the children in their respective station and then march in unity to the designated central location for the kick off.

This particular campaign that we participated in was sponsored by the Sunday school children from Burnett Fellowship Church in Maple Ridge. The children did a bake sale over the Christmas holiday and raised $1,500.00 for the campaign.

With the money, they were able to produce three hundred plus T-shirts for the children to wear;

as well as 5000 brochures to be handed out declaring that they are precious to Jesus.

This is the 11th campaign. The campaign is never repeated twice in the same location. Once the campaign has been held in one location, the organizing team will start planning for the next rally in another location.

The campaign can only happen when there are some generous individuals, couples, organizations or churches who are willing to sponsor financially towards the next campaign.

The money goes towards the vibrant T-shirts with the statement “I’m Precious to Jesus”,

the flyers describing the need to respect and honor children for the well-being of the country,

and a light refreshment for the children at the end of rally.

So far various individuals, organization such as World Vision, and churches from Australia, Canada, Germany, Korea, USA have supported this transforming campaign over the past four years.

Baby Jesus…

My chatty little friend loves Jesus very much.

The other day she told her parents that she liked to send an e-mail to Jesus.

Her parents said they don’t have Jesus’ e-mail.

Then chatty friend replied, “You can send it to Mary, His mom’s e-mail address!”

I love playing the nativity set with my little chatty friend.

She adores Baby Jesus!

Whenever she sees or thinks of the nativity set,

she would whisper or exclaim excitedly, “Baby Jesus!”

I have told many creative Christmas story using the nativity set,

but my story telling skill couldn’t beat this little friend of mine.

She’s a great story-teller!

I remembered once I played the nativity set with her;

Hush, it’s time for “Baby Jesus” to take a nap.

And my buddy made sure that everyone should go for a snooze as well ~

all the animals, the shepherds, the wise men, Mary & Joseph,

and even the angel, must go to sleep.

I bet this year chatty buddy is having fun playing the nativity set with her lil’ sister.

Looks like the nativity gang is going for an outing; wonder where Chatty is leading them to?

Hmm… perhaps to visit Angel Gabriel and to a CHRISTmas party!

Guardian Angel

The other day I was given this gift.  How wonder-filled it is to be reminded that I have a guardian angel watching over me 🙂

I think many of us knew that our Ultimate Guardian Angel is God Himself, the Immauel!

Ever wonder how Miss Santa Claus with the wings of an angel looks like…

Yup, Angel of the garden!

This lovely card was given to me by my spiritual mentor.  She told me everytime she looked at the  picture on the card, she would think of me. (Aww.. how sweet!)   Ahh, no wonder she had sent me the same card for  two consecutive years!

Anyway,  I considered it a double blessings for I adore the  image on the card as well as her words of  blessing which is always so anoiting.

She wrote, “If you have received the same card twice,  good!   You’re called to be who you truly are… showering seeds of love on little ones who grow up to be mighty men and women of God!”

The edifying words should go out to my wonderful ministry team as well.

They labored so heartily, both on the frontlines as well as behind the scenes,  guiding and tending the children into God’s truth and pouring blessings on them with their God-given talents.  In fact, these unsung heroes are the guardian angels and the true garderners in this beautiful orchard of God!

Angel of the Garden ~ Bringing forth a garden of love & beauty.

Take for example, currently this class is studying on the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

When we had the God is Light contest, the children with the help of their teaching team, came out with this fruit  project declaring that Jesus is their ultimate Sunshine who helps them  grow and bear the fruit of the Spirit.  Thus, this blossoming ‘Photosynthesis’.

Indeed our ministry is like what Apostle Paul said,  “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.” (I Corinthians 3:6)

May we be like the angels from the Bible bringing GOD news that will cause great joy for all the people.  (Luke 2)

Happy  Christmas eve!

Butterfly kisses…

This is the Angel of Freedom, one of the 3 angel figurines I collected which speaks volume to me.

The other two are Angel of Thank You and  Angel of Courage

They are products from Willow Tree production.

This Angel of Freedom – setting a butterfly free – reminds me of

John 8:38 where Jesus declares…

“… if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

I used to not fancy anything  butterflies except grasshoppers & dragonflies,

but recently butterfly-related stuff seem to fly my way ;p

This piece of artwork was given to me by a college art student.

At first I was thinking what a plain looking butterfly that was;

Isn’t butterfly supposed to be exquisitely colorful and with splendor,

that is why they are nicknamed ‘Flying Flowers’

However, after reexamining the details of this art-piece,

I started to appreciate this intricate artwork and heartfelt gift.

Thank you Michael for letting me see beauty in your color-less butterfly 🙂

The other day a friend and I were shopping and she wanted to buy a box of thank-you cards.

We came across a very nice set with gorgeous butterflies imprint  but my friend was hesitant to buy it ‘cos she said in her culture butterflies is not a good thing for it denotes short life span.

It’s true that in general, butterflies do not live long.

I told her that in christian setting butterfly is a good thing for it connotes freedom; It gives the images of metamorphosis which symbolizes celebration, hope, new life and transformation.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation:
The old has gone, the new is here!

Below are gorgeous  butterflies photos taken by my friend Felex while visiting Malaysia.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—
His good, pleasing and perfect will.

This butterfly entry also reminds me of the following account which my eldest brother conveyed to us:

On the 3rd day after my mom’s burial,  my brother witnessed a butterfly flying into our living room and landed for quite a lengthy time.

He phoned and excitedly exclaimed that he had never seen such stunning butterfly.

It’s too bad that at that time he didn’t have a camera to capture the splendid.

He said it could be my mom’s spirit dropping by to say hello!

People do use butterflies  images  for various occasions.
One such occasion would be in memory of loved ones.

For those interested in doing a memorial butterfly project, here is a “good project” in memory of the children of Holocust.

The mandate of this project is to remember the 1,500,000 innocent children who were murdered as a result of the Holocaust.

Their goal is to collect 1.5 million handmade butterflies from around the world  to be unveiled in Spring 2013 in the Huston museum.
So let’s spread the wings of this  project around!

Wow, another amazing creation from God: the  alphabetical and numerical imprints on butterfly wings.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo

In Latin means Glory to God in the highest

“Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o’er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Glo….ria, in excelsis Deo!

I am quite fond of them
particularly these angel figurines
from Susan Lordi’s Willow Tree angels craving

Here’s my first collection.

Thank You

It’s a Thank You Angel
I bought it a few years ago
on my birthday
as a thank you to God
to my dad and my mom
for giving me life, and the lives of my siblings, nephews and nieces, and grandnephews and nieces!
